La polvere, formata da miliardi di particelle di "nulla", che si insinua ovunque in modo ostinato, è la trama invisibile della storia.
Questo strato sottile di "nulla" è la traccia che unisce la vita e la trasformazione di tante donne indiane che lavorano nei cantieri.
In India la metà della forza lavoro edile è costituita da donne, anziane e bambine che provengono dalle zone più povere delle comunità rurali. Iniziano a lavorare nei cantieri all'età di 10-12 anni, con orari e temperature infernali, vivendo condizioni estreme e trasportando pesi sulla testa per ore, giorni, mesi, anni. Il 92 per cento di loro è analfabeta migrano con tutta la famiglia da regione in regione e abitano negli stessi cantieri edilizi, ricavandosi un minimo di riparo con plastiche, tele, cartoni e lamiere.

Saranno anche le "Ultime" nella scala sociale dei lavori svolti, ma senza la loro "polvere" non c'è cantiere che sopravvive!
